Humankind are naturally rapid sensory learners until they reach school age.  Educational training then begins to focus mainly on auditory-visual learning within the classroom.  However, all spiritual practices which have an overall guideline on how to prepare the mind, body and spirit to receive and recognise the Soul, set out to master the senses using primary intelligences associated with those senses.

The northern hemisphere is moving towards spring, whilst the southern hemisphere is moving towards autumn. Spring as a season is associated with new beginnings. Autumn is associated with celebrating harvests and releasing that which no longer is needed. Therefore, it is seemingly fit that in this month’s column, we are going to look at new beginnings which can result from releasing that which no longer nourishes or serves us.

The seasons are polar opposites depending on whether you are in the northern or southern hemisphere. May in the northern hemisphere is late spring. May in the southern hemisphere is late autumn. Depending on whether you are east or west Mother Earth will be bathed in both darkness and light simultaneously. Very often in our thinking we focus on the polar opposite of either or. Yet many spiritual practices have shared that the key to becoming more peaceful within is in our ability to appreciate and/and or both/and. This is known as dialectical thinking.
