Biography

Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Africa I started off life as a premature and fractious baby.  By the time I was 5/6 years old I was known as a difficult child with obnoxious behaviours which lead to the consultation of a child psychologist for help in understanding why I was so disruptive.  That encounter, although I don’t remember it, affected the choices I made much later in life.  The encounter with my great Aunt Molly has had a profound effect on the subjects I chose to study once I was an adult – spirituality, philosophy and psychology.

Life in Zimbabwe during the 1960’s and 1970’s was light and shadows.  Beautiful blue skies and loads of land to roam on bicycles as well as being able to walk and observe wildlife and the cycles of nature.  A sense of freedom and expansiveness.  At the same time there was a political ‘bush war’ going on.  Learning to hold and fire automatic weapons as a means of protection started at a young age.  Many childhood acquaintances lost family members and friends during the war years.  Contemplating death and the meaning of life started at a young age for me.  Despite this, I developed some wonderful childhood friendships which remain in place today.  These friendships have formed the backbone of my journey through life and are highly valued.  These friendships have taught me about loyalty, appreciation and unconditional love.

I turned to formalised religion during my teens because I felt lost and disconnected from life.  During this time, I had three mystical experiences which really challenged my view of reality.  However, my church counsellors at the time told me these experiences were ‘of the devil’ and made me feel as though there was something ‘wrong with me’. Yet, Life provided me with a counsellor, guide and mentor to navigate the healing journey and process, through a truly gracious lady by the name of Mary, whom I met on 5th October 1988.  She had been advised she would be the guide and mentor to a lady called Kathleen when she was 16 years of age.  She has taught me about kindness, tolerance, willingness to face my fears and to fulfil my soul contract.  She and her husband have been hugely instrumental in assisting me with my studies in complementary health, philosophy and spiritual psychology.

Up to 23 years of age, I never questioned the validity of information I was given by my parents, teachers or community.  I just accepted it as the truth with a capital T.  However, that all changed when I left Africa and came to England in 1985 and began to travel and visit other cultures and learn about their traditions and philosophies.  The sudden realisation of what I thought was the truth with a capital T, created much confusion in me.  However, by being willing to release the need to be right, I have through my studies and travelling cherished the similarities of philosophy and psychology to be found in each culture and their traditions and I have learnt to appreciate the magic of our differences as a way of learning to see life through new eyes.  This has taught me to increase my perception and the meaning I give my life experiences – both good and bad.

From the time I was born, I was a sickly individual.  My siblings have told me on more than one occasion my disruptive behaviours and sickly nature destroyed many a family occasion.  In 1993, I finally asked myself a quality question:  “Why am I always so ill?”.   This question launched me into the transformative healing journey referred to by Joseph Campbell, as the hero’s journey.  This journey has been about the marriage of science and mysticism; the greening of medicine and healthcare; the integration of mind, body, spirit and soul.

I have studied complementary healing practices and philosophy to doctorate level.  I co-developed an accelerated learning system which was voted by the British Social Inventions Committee to have the potential to change ‘how we learn’.  This programme was researched by the University of Westminster in London for 3 years.  This taught me about multi-sensory learning and its impact in integrating the mind, body, spirit and soul as well as assisting with my studies.  This also opened me up to learning about my values, needs, love languages, preferred learning styles and much much more.

I have walked over a bed of hot coals in my barefeet, I have broken a wooden board with my bare hand and slid down waterfalls.  I have ridden camels, elephants and horses as well as walked with the lions, had close encounters with cheetahs, snakes and other African wildlife.  I have floated in the Dead Sea on the Israeli and Jordan side; I have snorkelled and snuba-dived on the Great Barrier Reef as well as flying around the planet for my 40th birthday.   My experiences have taught me to face my fears and learn the power of curiosity and living in the present with presence.

I have been president and chairperson of various organisations such as the Association of Complementary Healers of Zimbabwe; Holborn Toastmasters Club and Area Governor for Toastmasters in London and the London Yes Group.  These experiences helped me to develop mindset, persistence, determination by facing my fears and choosing to live life anyway.  They also offered me the opportunity to make a difference within a community and to understand the qualities, values and behaviours of enlightened leadership.

I have been published in various complementary health magazines in the UK as well as Blogs in the USA and the Zimbabwe Airline Magazine (when Zimbabwe Airways had a fleet).  The articles have focused on solution life-style medicine not just symptom management.  I have been consultant to a documentary produced for Channel 4 by one of Ridley Scott’s companies, entitled BLUE.  These experiences have taught me about the power of information and sharing knowledge.

Since 2006 – after facing the loss of my health and bankruptcy, I have been on a mission to learn what a healing business looks and feels like.  This culminated in the running and overseeing of 3 companies for a complementary health focused therapy between 2018 and 2024.  Finally learning and understanding there is a difference between the business of healing and the healing business.

In 2011, I met my life partner and now husband, Martin.  Through him I met the beautiful Jenna Puss, a truly healing cat.  She now guides us from the spirit world. I have a keen and strong interest in human development potential as well as being fascinated by accelerated learning systems and technologies.  I am passionate about the wellness industry and life-style medicine and spend a lot of my spare time studying this.  I am a Spirit Keeper and committed to the healing journey. I also appreciate inspiring movies, gardening, reading, creative cake-decorating, photography and travelling.
